Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday on November 30. For a small online store, a good BFCM weekend isn’t about the deepest discount. It’s about having the right stock, one clear offer, shipping promises you can keep, and a store that works on every phone. This checklist covers the weeks before, the weekend itself and what comes after, with the Shopping Master features that help at each step.
The BFCM 2026 calendar

| Week of Nov 9 | Preparation | Update product pages, build a sale collection, set up discounts |
| Week of Nov 16 | Testing | Test checkout, schedule emails and posts, brief anyone helping you |
| Thu, Nov 26 | Thanksgiving | Early access for subscribers, if you offer it |
| Fri, Nov 27 | Black Friday | Offer goes live; watch stock and messages |
| Sat, Nov 28 | Small Business Saturday | Remind local customers about pickup |
| Mon, Nov 30 | Cyber Monday | Last day of most offers; send a final reminder |
| Tue, Dec 1 | Giving Tuesday | A charity tie-in, if it fits your brand |
| Mid-December | Carrier cutoffs | Post your last order-by date for holiday delivery |
1. Stock and products
- Count what you have and update your stock before you promote anything. Overselling on your busiest weekend means refunds and unhappy customers.
- Leave Sell when out of stock off for limited items; turn it on only for made-to-order products.
- Watch for low-stock emails: Shopping Master emails the store owner when a product’s tracked stock drops to five or fewer, so you can restock or pull it from your promotions.
- Let sold-out products keep working for you: shoppers can sign up for a back-in-stock alert and get an email when you restock.
- Use compare-at prices to show the original price struck through, and create an automatic collection with the condition “On sale” so every discounted product lands on one page you can link to.
- Build a bundle from products you already stock. Its stock follows its components, so you can’t sell a bundle you can’t assemble.
- Refresh the photos and descriptions of your best sellers. They’ll get most of the traffic.
2. Discounts and offers
One clear offer beats five confusing ones. Common choices for small stores are a percentage off sitewide, a gift with purchase, free shipping over an amount, or buy one, get one. Whatever you choose, check that your margin survives it, including card processing on the discounted price.
In Shopping Master, all of this lives in Discounts:
- Discount codes: a percentage or a fixed amount, with an optional minimum purchase, usage limit and start and end dates, so a BFCM code switches itself off after Cyber Monday.
- Automatic discounts: applied at checkout with no code, with the same dates and minimum. They can take an amount or a percentage off, work as buy X get Y, or give free shipping over a minimum subtotal.
- Discounts don’t stack. When a code, an automatic discount and a payment-method discount all apply, the customer gets the largest one; free shipping can still apply alongside it. Plan your offers with that in mind.
- Gift cards (Pro plan): issue gift cards and email them to the recipient. They make a useful last-minute gift once shipping cutoffs have passed.
3. Shipping cutoffs and delivery promises
Holiday orders come with a deadline that matters more to the customer than to you. Publish yours early and stick to it.
- Check carrier deadlines. For 2026, USPS recommends sending by December 17 for Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express to arrive by December 25 within the contiguous US (USPS holiday shipping dates). UPS and FedEx publish their own.
- Set your own order-by date a day or two earlier, to leave room for packing.
- Update the delivery estimate shown on every product page (Settings › Shipping methods), for example “Order by Dec 15 for Christmas delivery.”
- Review your shipping zones and free-shipping threshold (shipping setup). A threshold just above your average order nudges people to add one more item.
- Offer local pickup if you have customers nearby. It’s also the fallback for late shoppers.
- Stock up on boxes, mailers and labels now; supplies get slower in December.
4. Site and checkout checks
Run these the week before, and again on Thanksgiving:
- Place a test order with a real card on your phone, then refund it. Check the confirmation email and your own new-order email.
- Confirm that every payment method you want is on in Settings › Payment methods, including Stripe for cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Apply your discount code and your automatic discount in a test cart and check that the totals are right.
- Check your home page banner, menus and sale collection links.
- Make sure your shipping, returns and contact pages are up to date, including any extended holiday return window.
- If someone is helping you, invite them as staff instead of sharing your password. Pro includes up to five team members, you included; Business has no limit.
5. Email, social and abandoned checkouts
- Email your subscribers. Shopping Master collects newsletter sign-ups from your store; export them as a CSV from Subscribers and send your BFCM emails with the email tool you use. Plan three: a teaser, the launch and a last-chance reminder on Cyber Monday.
- Turn on abandoned-checkout recovery (Pro plan). Shopping Master can automatically email shoppers who reached checkout and didn’t finish, 1, 6, 10 or 24 hours after they left; you can also send a recovery email by hand from Orders › Abandoned checkouts.
- Post your offer on Instagram with direct links to the sale collection, and update your bio links for the weekend (selling on Instagram).
- If you run ads, make sure your Meta Pixel or Google Analytics ID is set in your store settings, so purchases are tracked.
- Prepare saved replies for the questions you’ll get: shipping deadlines, the code, returns.
6. During the weekend
- Check orders, stock and messages a few times a day, not every five minutes.
- Ship paid orders quickly and add tracking numbers, so customers get them by email.
- If a product sells out, swap a similar one into its place in your banner and posts.
- Keep notes on what sold and what people asked. You’ll want them next year.
An AI assistant connected to your store can take some of this off your plate. Ask “What do I need to do today in my store?” or “Which products are about to run out?” and it answers from your real data, asking before it changes anything (AI agents for ecommerce).
7. After the sale
- Fulfill everything and answer every message within a day or two. BFCM buyers are your best candidates for repeat customers.
- Handle returns promptly. In Shopping Master you can create a return from the order and refund it; card refunds go back through Stripe (managing orders).
- End your offers on time. Codes and automatic discounts with end dates switch off on their own; double-check any compare-at prices you added for the sale.
- Review the numbers: sales against last month, best sellers, average order value, and which emails and posts brought orders.
- Restock your best sellers for December and post your final holiday shipping date.
- Thank your customers and invite them to leave a review (product reviews are part of the Pro plan).
Frequently asked questions
When is Black Friday 2026?
Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving. Small Business Saturday is November 28, Cyber Monday is November 30 and Giving Tuesday is December 1.
How early should a small store prepare for Black Friday?
Three to four weeks is enough for most small stores: one week to plan the offer and stock, one to update products and set up discounts, and one to test and schedule your promotion.
Should I offer free shipping or a discount?
It depends on your margins and your average order. Free shipping over a threshold protects margin and raises order value; a percentage off is easier to communicate. Run both through your numbers, including card fees, before you choose.
Can I schedule a Black Friday discount in advance?
Yes. In Shopping Master, discount codes and automatic discounts take start and end dates, so you can set them up now and let them turn on and off by themselves.
